Holler has unveiled its Albums of the Year ranking, featuring twenty of the best releases from 2022. Hailey WhittersRaised has been awarded the No. 1 position, while albums from Zach Bryan, Miranda Lambert and more have also made the list.

It’s safe to say that 2022 has been another stand-out year for country, Americana and Roots releases.

Some artists stuck to the safety and familiarity of the well-trodden path, while others threw away their sonic compasses and ventured into new, uncharted territory.

Holler has unveiled its all-encompassing ranking of the best and the boldest albums from 2022. In a list that includes country veterans, rising stars and mavericks that defy all attempts at categorisation, many were jostling for the top spot.

But at the end of the day, there was only one contender. Hailey Whitters’ March album, Raised, has been crowned Holler’s Album of the Year.

Holler’s Editor, Ross Jones, said, “In the three years that Holler has compiled its end-of-year lists, we’ve never been so unanimous or assured in our decision of what deserves to be called Album of the Year”.

Jones went on to describe Whitters’ project as “an instant classic”, and praised the way that she “teaches and guides with humility and candidness; revealing her own maturation through the life lessons she's sharing”.

Raised heads up an Albums of the Year list that weaves together an eclectic mix of styles and textures, producing a kaleidoscope of projects that showcases the full spectrum of all that 2022 had to offer.

49 Winchester’s display of storytelling magic and homely delight, Fortune Favors the Bold, was chosen to be second on the list. Completing Holler’s top five is Miko Marks’ Feel Like Going Home, Zach Bryan’s American Heartbreak and Miranda Lambert’s Palomino.
