HARDY and Lainey Wilson continued their impressive streak of accolades by picking up the 2023 ACM Award for Music Event of the Year, for their much-loved collaboration, ‘wait in the truck’.
The triumph followed the dynamic duo's success in the 2023 ACM Visual Media of the Year category, with HARDY and Lainey being awarded the prize ahead of the ceremony.
At first, the man who so often adopts a full-blooded, screamo style of singing on his tracks was momentarily speechless, before HARDY gathered himself and expressed his gratitude to Lainey Wilson.
HARDY thanked his ‘wait in the truck’ collaborator for making the song happen in the first place, “Man, thank you, Lainey. You absolutley killed it. There was never a doubt that you were always the one to make people believe this song”.
He went on to stress what makes her delivery so special, “She sings this song with conviction, and therefore they resonate with it”.
Lainey Wilson reciprocated HARDY's sentiment, before highlighting what she feels makes ‘wait in the truck’ such a special song, drawing viewers’ attention to its exploration of domestic abuse, “I think it's really important to sing about things that are hard to talk about”.
Later in the evening, Lainey Wilson took home the prestigious award for 2023 ACM Female Artist of the Year. Earlier in the week, HARDY picked up the gong for 2023 ACM Artist-Songwriter of the Year.
The two are heading out on the road together this Fall for HARDY's first ever headlining arena tour, following the latter's stint supporting Morgan Wallen on his 2023 One Night At A Time world tour.
