With three nominations behind him for his breakthrough hit single, ''Til You Can't,' Cody Johnson hit the ACM Awards stage to present a moving tribute to country icon Willie Nelson.
Having previously credited Nelson as a major influence in his artistry, Johnson and his band gave their rendition of Nelson and Waylon Jennings' 'Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys.'
Dripping in southern sensibility and country charm, the Texas crowd ate up every second of the gripping performance while Johnson was able to showcase all of his artistic strengths.
The performance comes just under a week after Nelson's two-day 90th birthday concert in Los Angeles, which featured performances from Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Tyler Childers, George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Sturgill Simpson, Charley Crockett, Kacey Musgraves and more.
Earlier this spring, Johnson nabbed the CMT Music Awards for 2023 Performance of the Year. He also gave a stirring performance of his current single, 'Human' at the show.
On tap next for the 'Dear Rodeo' singer is the highly-anticipated released of his new double album, Leather, set to release sometime this year.
