The CMT Awards always feel like one of the biggest, most hotly anticipated parties in the country music calendar - and there's no better way to kick off any kind of festivities than to book Midland and Jon Pardi for a Red Carpet performance.

They serenaded onlookers with a typically charismatic, light-hearted rendition of their 2022 single, ‘Longneck Way To Go’.

The tear-in-my-bear anthem originally featured on Midland's much-loved album, The Last Resort: Greetings From.

Although it wasn't the Moody Center main-stage, Midland and Jon Pardi gave the performance a classy, eye-catching sheen, and in doing so, noticeably raised the energy levels before the ceremony.

The neo-traditional honky-tonk jam was nominated for Best Collaborative Video of the Year, but Midland and Jon Pardi ultimately lost out to HARDY and Lainey Wilson's blockbuster visuals for ‘Wait in the Truck’.

Nonetheless, from the looks of the way they got their evening started with this uplifting, fun-loving performance, you can't help but feel neither Midland nor Pardi will have allowed themselves to feel too down about this missed 2023 CMT Award opportunity.

Midland and Jon Pardi are hitting the road together later in the year for the latter's Mr Saturday Night World Tour, which opens its gates on August 25 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
