Although the 2023 CMT Awards celebrated a variety of incredible achievements and accolades for a range of country stars, it's safe to say that April 2 belonged to Jelly Roll.
After picking up gongs for CMT Breakthrough Male Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year, Jelly Roll made it three-for-three by being crowned the victor in the star-studded CMT Male Video of the Year category.
It capped off an immensely successful night for the fast-emerging artist, with Jelly Roll taking time out from his seemingly relentless award-winning to perform ‘Need A Favor’ for the Texas audience.
The vulnerable track is set to feature on Jelly Roll's upcoming album, Whitsitt Chapel, which is due to be released on June 2, and will also include his Country Radio No. 1, ‘Son Of A Sinner’.
As he accepted the award, Jelly Roll delivered an inspiring speech encouraging listeners to keep faith regardless of how difficult and challenging their situation might be.
He stressed that if he can go from rock bottom to winning three CMT awards, then it's possible for anybody to overcome anything.
Jelly Roll also gave heartfelt thanks to Country Radio and the country music community for standing by him and offering him such great support, despite his somewhat unorthodox route to stardom.
Jelly Roll will embark on his 2023 Backroad Baptism tour later this year, with a blockbuster supporting cast that includes Ashley McBryde, Chase Rice and more.
Country music's newest prodigy has been earning a loyal army of fans over the past twelve months - and if anybody has been late to the party, it's safe to say that after the 2023 CMT Awards, they'll have arrived once and for all.
