Over the past six months, country-rap trailblazer, Jelly Roll, has emerged as one of the most innovative, idiosyncratic and exciting new voices in Nashville.
Now, he's released his hotly anticipated follow-up to 2021's Ballads Of The Broken.
The new record, entitled Whitsitt Chapel, features his electrifying recent singles, ‘Need A Favor’, ‘She’ and ‘Save Me’, the latter of which features a blockbuster guest verse from Jelly Roll's BBR Music Group label-mate, Lainey Wilson.
The duo performed the powerful revamped song, which originally appeared as a solo cut on Jelly Roll's 2020 Self Medicated album, during the 2023 ACM Awards in May.
The new project also includes a reflective joint song with Brantley Gilbert and Struggle Jennings, ‘Behind The Bars’, as well as a plethora of faith-filled songs such as ‘Church’, ‘The Lost’ and ‘Nail Me’.
In early 2023, Jelly Roll's blockbuster hit single, ‘Son of a Sinner’, became the Tennessee native's first ever No. 1 at Country Radio, and ‘Need A Favor’ seems on-track to emulate its success.
Whitsitt Chapel continues Jelly Roll's penchant for religious imagery, with the likes of ‘Hungover In A Church Pew’, ‘Dancing With The Devil’ and ‘Halfway To Hell’ all included in the tracklist.
As he underlined in his recently released 2023 Hulu documentary, Jelly Roll: Save Me, a key motivator behind his creative process is the drive to offer comfort to listeners through his music, something that radiates throughout Whitsitt Chapel.
At the moment, Jelly Roll is getting ready to head out on his 2023 Backroad Baptism tour, which will take the artist across the US, and will feature a star-studded roster of support acts, including Ashley McBryde, Chase Rice, Elle King and more.
