After months of snippets, teasers and covers, Colter Wall has at long last treated treating fans to a brand new album, Little Songs.
The hotly anticipated July 14 project serves as the follow-up to Wall's acclaimed 2020 offering, Western Swing & Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs, and marks the traditional-leaning singer-songwriter's first release since his double-pack of singles in September.
Ahead of the new record, the Saskatchewan native released the lead single, a swinging, romantic rendition of Hoyt Axton's classic love-song, ‘Evangelina’, along with ‘For A Long While’, ‘Corralling The Blues’ and the much-loved title-track.
Little Songs also features ‘The Last Loving Words’, an original song that Colter Wall first shared back in February. It was accompanied by a sparse video of Wall performing the bittersweet ballad in the oldest restaurant in Denver, Colorado, The Buckhorn Exchange.
Excitingly, Colter Wall's new record includes a cover of Ian Tyson's ‘The Coyote and The Cowboy’, a nostalgic, melancholic rumination on the unique way of life of a cowboy.
In addition, Little Songs makes room for songs such as ‘Standing Here’ and ‘Honky Tonk Nighthawk’. Wall has performed the latter during a number of recent shows, and fans are undoubtedly overjoyed to finally be receiving an official studio version of the track.
