The news arrives ahead of the highly anticipated 2023 CMA Awards ceremony in Nashville, with fans celebrating the dual triumph for a song that has lit up the country music world for over a year now.
‘wait in the truck’ featured on HARDY's acclaimed 2023 double-album, the mockingbird & THE CROW, with the simmering piece of storytelling magic following a man that meets a badly beaten woman in the middle of the night, before going after her abuser.
The accompanying visuals brought this tale viscerally to life, with HARDY and Lainey Wilson starring in the haunting ‘wait in the truck’ music video. As a result, few will have any complaints about the collaboration being awarded the 2023 CMA Music Video of the Year.
Both Lainey Wilson and HARDY attended last night's star-studded BMI Country Awards, with HARDY being honoured for co-writing ‘wait in the truck’ and Dylan Scott's ‘New Truck’. In addition, Lainey treated attendees to a stellar rendition of Deana Carter's ‘Strawberry Wine’ as part of a moving tribute to Matraca Berg.
Lainey Wilson heads into the 2023 CMA Awards with more nominations than any other artist. With the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ hitmaker notching two awards before the ceremony has even started, it's safe to say it's shaping up to be a successful evening for Lainey.
With the Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year gongs, HARDY earns his first ever CMA Awards, with the Mississippi native having established himself over the past few years as one of the most prolific and talented songsmiths in Nashville.
The 2023 CMA Awards will take place tonight (Wednesday, November 8), and will feature blockbuster performances from Morgan Wallen, Post Malone, Luke Combs, HARDY, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Carly Pearce, Old Dominion, Megan Moroney and more.
