Morgan Wallen surprised viewers and attendees at the 2023 CMA Awards with a special duet with Eric Church. The two megastars treated the crowd to the live debut of ’Man Made A Bar’, their much-loved collaboration from Morgan's record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time.
Although on the record, the track is pervaded by a sense of agonised introspection, Morgan and Eric's live performance brought in a new sense of angst and ferocity, with the two artists showcasing their unmistakable chemistry throughout.
For the final verse, Eric Church could barely contain his energy as the song built towards its climax, with the protagonists inventively detailing an alternative Biblical story of creation.
The song, which was co-written by Morgan Wallen's label-mate, Larry Fleet, remains one of the many fan-favourites from Morgan's celebrated 2023 album, alongside chart-toppers such as ‘You Proof’, ‘Thinkin’ Bout Me’ and ‘Thought You Should Know’.
Later in the ceremony, the Sneedville native took the stage alongside Post Malone and HARDY for one of the most hotly anticipated performances of the evening.
Morgan entered this year's CMA Awards ceremony with nominations for 2023 Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for his record-breaking One Thing At A Time.
The ‘Last Night’ hitmaker has spent much of 2023 at the pinnacle of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, with Morgan Wallen and his fellow chart titan, Luke Combs, having undoubtedly propelled country music to new heights over the course of the past year.
The night before he stormed onto the Bridgestone Arena platform with Eric Church, Morgan Wallen performed at the 2023 BMI Country Awards alongside Luke, with the two country megastars touchingly paying tribute to one another with covers of ‘Going, Going, Gone’ and ‘Thought You Should Know’ respectively.
Morgan's status as one of the biggest names - if not the biggest name - in modern country was unquestionably consolidated by his show-stopping performance with Eric.
The CMA Awards never fail to deliver a spectacle, and the 2023 instalment proved no different, with a plethora of enchanting performances from Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Old Dominion, Megan Moroney, Luke Combs and more.
