Lauren Watkins has taken to Instagram to share a captivating cover of HARDY's hit single, ‘BOOTS’. The angsty, alcohol-soaked anthem originally appeared on HARDY's 2020 album, A ROCK.
As well as garnering a burgeoning fanbase through her stellar solo material, Lauren Watkins has built a reputation for her array of covers, with the up-and-coming artist having delivered enchanting renditions of Ernest's ‘Miss That Girl’, Patty Griffin's ‘Rain’ and more.
Lauren Watkins strips back ‘BOOTS’ to give the fiery track a more easygoing, introspective feel, with the Tennessee native's raspy, sinuous vocals bringing gravitas to the much-loved song.
The fast-emerging songsmith recently dropped her acclaimed Introducing: The Heartbreak EP, featuring fan-favourites such as ‘Jealous of Jane’, the Jake Worthington-assisted ‘Fly On The Wall’, ‘The Table’ and ‘Cowboys On Music Row’ with Carter Faith.
Earlier in the year, Lauren Watkins took the stage alongside HARDY to perform one of the many chart-toppers from the latter's impressive discography, ‘One Beer’, which was originally released as part of the country-rocker's HIXTAPE Vol. 1 project in 2019.
‘BOOTS’ pivots around a remorseful protagonist that wakes up in the same clothes he wore the previous evening, after setting his relationship alight through a raucous all-nighter.
HARDY tips his Nuthin Fancy cap to the song on his 2023 album stand-out, ‘TRUCK BED’, with the lyric, “Oh, I guess if this really is goodbye / At least I took my boots off this time”.
