Lauren Watkins may not yet have a sprawling discography to her name, but she's quickly garnering a reputation for her impressive array of covers.
The latest song to receive the Watkins treatment is Ernest's ‘Miss That Girl’, which is set to feature on his upcoming deluxe album.
In 2022, Lauren Watkins went viral after joining forces with another Big Loud artist, Morgan Wallen, for an impromptu performance at the label's Christmas party.
After covering a series of artists, from Sheryl Crow and Ashley McBryde to Wallen himself, Watkins dropped her rendition of Ernest's heartbroken earworm, ‘Miss That Girl’.
Watkins’ laidback vocals float across the gentle strum of her acoustic guitar, accentuating the track's duality of being undeniably downcast, while still sounding full of levity.
The cover comes after Watkins posted a snippet of an unreleased original song, entitled ‘Come Monday’.
The acoustic track follows in a similar vein to Watkins’ covers, with an easygoing guitar and her trademark smooth vocals that carry traces of smokiness.
Fans of Watkins will no doubt be hoping the song gets an official release sooner rather than later.
