Speaking to Holler ahead of the release of his new album, Ain't My Last Rodeo, Riley Green discussed his friendship with Morgan Wallen, as well as delving into the possibility of a collaboration.

Riley Green has opened for the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker for a handful of his 2023 One Night At A Time tour dates, and Green even chose his Morgan Wallen supporting set in Columbus, Ohio as the perfect moment to announce his forthcoming album.

The Alabama native has spent a considerable portion of 2023 opening for another country megastar, Luke Combs, with the two linking up for a revamped version of Riley Green's 2019 anthem, ‘Different ‘Round Here’, which appears on the Ain't My Last Rodeo tracklist.

As a result, when Green had the opportunity to join Morgan Wallen's tour for a few shows, fans immediately started speculating as to whether a collaboration could be on the cards.

Riley Green exclusively shared to Holler that he and Wallen have discussed the prospect of releasing a duet a number of times, “We've talked about it quite a bit. Me and Morgan know each other real well, we became friends out on tour with Jason Aldean a couple of years ago”.

He went on to reveal they've shared a couple of demos with one another as potential collaboration candidates, before underlining they're keen to ensure the track they ultimately choose is a special one, “I think [Morgan's] like me, he wants to make sure it's the right song, you know...We've sent some back and forth to each other...”

Given the fact that Riley Green released a new rendition of the fan-favourite ‘Different ‘Round Here’ with Luke Combs, some have clamoured for him to drop an updated version of his multi-Platinum track, ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died’, with Morgan Wallen.

The two performed the endearing ode to Green's granddad a couple of years ago at Loser's Bar & Grill in Nashville, and Wallen has a track record of guesting on remixed versions of high-profile songs, such as Larry Fleet's celebrated ballad, ‘Where I Find God’.

Larry Fleet told Holler in August that he still hopes to release an official studio version of the track with Morgan Wallen, with the song so far only existing as a live performance recording.

However, it appears the most likely option for Riley Green and Morgan Wallen will be to release an original co-written song, although their schedules will seemingly prove an obstacle. Green warned fans not to expect anything too soon, “It's probably going to be tough for us to find time to sit down and write together, we're both on the road so much”.

Riley Green emphasised that both he and Wallen are keen, though, providing they can craft the right track, “But I think that's probably what it's going to take, us writing a song and it just being the perfect one to do something together with it”.

Elsewhere in his conversation with Holler, the ‘Mississippi Or Me’ songsmith outlined that his dream collaboration would be with Tim McGraw. Green has included a cover of McGraw's 2015 song, ‘Damn Country Music’, on Ain't My Last Rodeo.
