As rumours of Morgan Wallen and Ella Langley collaborations bubble away, Drake continues to flirt with country music culture. This week, the Toronto rapper was spotted shopping for a new cowboy boot at Texas’ popular Republic Boot Co.

Drake was seen with a few members of his entourage in the store, which sells an array of customised boots and hats, with some fans sharing photos with the ‘God's Plan’ hitmaker.

Republic Boot Co made sure the rap phenom felt at home, with a special sign reading “Republic Boot Co Welcomes Drake”. Another photo has surfaced of a printed-out image of Drake's 2026 album, Maid Of Honour, that has been signed by the ‘Janice STFU’ chart-topper. He wrote, “Dear Story. Much Love. Hope you like your boots!”

As a standalone story, it might seem a little trivial. But in reality, this serves as the latest in a long line of country-inspired moments from Drake, as the ‘Passionfruit’ crooner continues to flirt with the genre and hint at a forthcoming crossover release.

Last month, Drake teamed up with Don Toliver for his eagerly anticipated remix of Ella Langley's ‘Choosin’ Texas’, titled ‘Solar Eclipse’, after sharing clips backstage with Langley.

His outfit choices in recent months have been decidedly country-leaning, with the self-proclaimed ‘6 God’ regularly donning eye-catching cowboy boots and Western shirts. What's more, one of his many 40th birthday parties last month was Wild West-themed.

The big collaboration that has been mooted for the best part of three years now is Morgan Wallen, with the duo linking up on a number of occasions and sparking joint song rumours. That is yet to materialise, but with Drizzy name-checking Wallen on his HABIBTI gem, ‘White Bone’, earlier in the year, it seems they're still good friends.

Although some more traditionalist members of the country music world might baulk at the thought of Drake releasing a full-blown country song - and maybe even an album, too - in this writer's opinion, this would be a fantastic moment for the genre.

Drake has always had a penchant for flitting between an eclectic range of genres, and whenever he does so, he makes an effort to help elevate smaller artists within the space.

What's more, Drake's penmanship has never been in doubt, and given his love of clever wordplay and soaring hooks, we think he could produce a really forward-thinking and captivating country project. With Drake now owning a ranch in Houston and continuing to sprinkle country-driven easter eggs across social media, we're hoping there might be a more full-blooded pivot to the genre on the horizon.
