Despite initial disappointment from fans at the fact that Morgan Wallen isn't featured on any of Drake's three albums, Drake has dropped a shout-out to Wallen on ‘White Bone’.

The soulful, melodic offering appears on HABIBTI, the most melodic, R&B-infused record of Drake's new trio of projects. On ‘White Bone’, Drake is singing to an on-and-off lover, and as he describes a series of vacations - including a trip to see Wallen in Vegas.

Across the sensual, brooding instrumental, the Toronto rapper wistfully croons, “Goin' to see Morgan, cowboy boots, rhinestones / Giddy up, cowgirl, Las Vegas timezone”.

Initially, Drake was expected to drop a new album today (Friday, May 15th), ICEMAN, but the ‘Passionfruit’ hitmaker surprised fans with not one, not two, but three projects. Alongside ICEMAN, Drake has treated us to HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR.

While he spends much of ICEMAN airing our his grievances against numerous fellow rappers and former allies that he feels switched on him in 2024 as part of the Kendrick Lamar beef, such as LeBron James, DJ Khaled and Rick Ross, on HABIBTI, by contrast, he turns his attention towards romance. On ‘White Bone’, he examines a blossoming relationship, admitting he finally feels “close” to committing.

Given how Drake is in a combative mode against his peers for the majority of ICEMAN, it's refreshing to hear him showing love to Wallen here, and underlines that they're still friends with one another, despite there being no collaboration yet.

Rumours have been flying for the past year or so that Wallen would appear on ICEMAN, following their link-ups in Drake's ‘You Broke My Heart’ music video and during Wallen's pre-show walk-out in Houston last year. Then, the country titan was seemingly spotted at Drake's Texas ranch, and was presumed to be working on new music.

The central theory has been that Wallen's I'm the ProblemInterlude’, which is part of a longer song called ‘Wrong Way’, was being readied as a full-blown collaboration with Drake. Its positioning as No. 6 on I'm the Problem seemingly added weight to this speculation, given the fact that Drake often refers to himself as ‘The 6 God’.

We suspect that Drake's decision to omit Wallen from his trio of new albums is to ensure he can overtake the Sneedville native's Billboard Hot 100 record. If Drake manages to place all of his new songs on the chart, he'll outpace Wallen's 37-track record.

What's more, with Drake reportedly fulfilling his Republic Records album quota with these three projects, it makes sense to wait until he is independent before teaming up with Wallen.

Wallen, of course, has a deal with Big Loud Records and Republic Records, and with Drake beefing with Universal at the moment, he might not want to platform a Republic-affiliated artist in this way. Republic is one of Universal's flagship label imprints.

Either way, especially given how much conjecture there was around a potential Wallen feature on ICEMAN, it's nice to see Drake showing love to the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper through this lyrical reference. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that, once Drake is officially independent, we'll finally get that long-awaited collaboration.

“Ayy
Call me back, where you been?
Say you're comin' back from the dead
Damn, we must be some twins
'Cause that's what they said about him
You're stayin' out and sleepin' in
We said it's ride or die, well fuck it, we both dead then
Ayy

-

Last time I cried, the tears just wasn't
Flowin' like the sea in the ocean
I wanna be a big star in Hollywood, so
I guess I should show no emotion
I guess I should live in the moment
I guess I should roll with the punches
First day gifts, can't show up with nothin'
Yeah
Here's what I know, herе's what I do know
I'm the only don you know other than Julio
Who understands you likе me? Nobody truly knows
You say that there's nothin' for you here and that you should go
Dubai doesn't need another pilates studio
How can you just up and leave, and I'm not included, though?
Fisher Island does sound a lot better than Sulphur Springs, bro, but
But just listen to me
I love you so much, I cannot lose you, so
I heard about soulmates, I've never gotten this close
I'm so close, so close

-

Yeah
So close to makin' it real
Two-income household, choosin' your bridesmaids
White dress with wine stains, farm house with my taste
Still in design phase, ridin' a Clydesdale
Girls' trip to Scottsdale (Who the fuck chose Scottsdale?)
This could be fine-tuned, that should be limestone
Goin' to see Morgan, cowboy boots, rhinestones
Giddy up, cowgirl, Las Vegas timezone
What is this, a zoo trip? Spearmint Rhinos
I feel accomplished, is six months a milestone?
Are you tired of me yet? Tired like Firestone
Sex could be crazy, and I get my mind blown
Some nights we're both tired, tired and our minds gone
You worked me too hard, G, worked me to the white bone
Drivin' there is easy, I feel it on the ride home
Can I walk a straight line? Am I on a tightrope?
Anchor you in my love, do I need a lifeboat?
Do we need a lighthouse?
Know you got a nice house, livin' by the white folk
April is through bitter cold, cover me in white snow
Insurance on the dick if you want, cover me with Geico
Said I called you what now? Must've been a typo
Someone take my phone, someone take my phone

-

Someone please take my phone away from me
Someone please take my phone away from me
'Fore I go out
Someone please take my phone away from me
'Fore I go out to a place that I shouldn't be
Yeah

-

I'm Mr. Told You So
I'm not a people-pleaser, bro, I'm the CEO
What I charge for a show, they charge for Van Gogh
And some people fucked me over, I can't let it go
Problems, they follow me wherever I go

-

Someone please take my phone away from me
'Fore I go out
Someone please take my phone away from me”
