We may be well into December, but Zach Bryan's high-octane 2022 is showing no sings of slowing down. His uptempo, storytelling masterpiece, ‘Oklahoma Smokeshow’, has now received an RIAA Gold certification.
The track features on Bryan's acclaimed Summertime Blues EP, which he dropped in July to fans' delight, following his 34-track American Heartbreak album earlier in the year.
‘Oklahoma Smokeshow’ currently sits at No. 27 on Billboard's Hot Country chart, and has quickly become a fan-favourite in the maverick singer-songwriter's live set.
The song documents the story of a woman struggling to find her way in the midst of a variety of external pressures and toxic romantic experiences.
Despite its sombre subject matter, the song takes off into a driving, energetic anthem with an earworm of a hook.
The news comes after Bryan posted a clip of a new song on Twitter on Thursday December 8, on which the singer-songwriter pines heart-wrenchingly for his lost love, ‘Marie’.
It is expected to be included on Zach Bryan's 2023 studio album, which has the working title Writers and Fighters.
Bryan is also gearing up to release a live album, the artwork for which he teased in early December. Particularly after going Gold, listeners will be hoping that ‘Oklahoma Smokeshow’ makes its way onto the tracklist.
