It's finally here! Luke Combs has released a brand new album, Gettin’ Old, featuring a whopping 18 tracks, including electrifying cuts such as ‘Fox in the Henhouse’ and ‘Where The Wild Things Are’.

Almost as soon as Luke Combs released his 2022 album, Growin‘ Up, fans were already starting to ask when we would be receiving more new music from the country music titan.

At the start of the new year, Luke revealed that he'd be releasing a new, 18-track album on March 24.

Later in January, Luke went on to confirm our suspicions that this new project would act as the second half of a double-album, entitled Gettin’ Old, with ‘Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old’ serving as the lead single.

On February 7, Luke unveiled the tracklist for the new album, which includes previously teased fan-favourites such as ‘Joe’, ‘Tattoo On A Sunburn’, ‘See Me Now’ and more.

Fans were excited to see that the project features an array of previously unheard songs, such as ‘Hannah Ford Road’, ‘Back 40 Back’ and ‘The Part’, along with a hotly anticipated cover of Tracy Chapman's much-loved hit, ‘Fast Car’.

One of the Gettin’ Old highlights is undoubtedly ‘5 Leaf Clover’, a trademark Combsian display of everyman humility.

It finds him wondering why the fates aligned for him to become one of the biggest names in modern country music.

Fans were excited to learn that ‘5 Leaf Clover’ would be released on St. Patrick's Day.

In early December, Combs posted a snippet of a sun-soaked ode to a holiday romance, ‘Tattoo On A Sunburn’.

He then pinned it to the top of his feed, before revealing that the wistful earworm of a ballad would be getting an official release on Gettin’ Old.

More recently, Combs shared a clip from inside a stadium, during which he performs ‘Love You Anyway’. The snippet of the ballad was presumably recorded during Combs’ 2022 tour. Combs then released the track on February 10.

While out on the road, Luke Combs performed ‘Joe’, a pensive ode to overcoming alcoholism that finds the North Carolina native flexing his storytelling muscles.

The track, which received an official release on February 24, represents a more mature gear-shift away from the beer-drenched, party-starting hits that Combs has become known for, such as ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ and ‘1, 2 Many’.

It epitomises the new maturity that Combs leans into on Gettin’ Old, something also captured on the album closer, ‘The Part’.

Back when the North Carolina hitmaker revealed the artwork for his 2022 album, Growin’ Up, which features half of Combs' smiling face with the title emblazoned on half his cap, we suspected he was hinting that the record might have a sequel.

The cover for Gettin’ Old neatly completes Combs' portrait, to produce the overarching double-project, Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old.

As Luke Combs underlined in his Apple Music album notes, Gettin’ Old represents a distinctive gear-change in his musical direction, “Growin’ Up was the last record of the tail end of my career, at that point of what my sound used to be and where it's evolving to.

We really did shift our focus, production-wise, as soon as that record came out. We knew we wanted this one to sound different”.
