The attendee, named Andrew, caught Zach's eye with a placard asking him if he could sing his favourite song alongside the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker.
Zach was more than happy to oblige, calling Andrew up on stage and letting him take the lead on ’Heading South’. It was one of the many enchanting moments in the Oklahoma native's performance at FairWell Festival, with Zach Bryan also delivering an eye-catching finale rendition of ‘Revival’ alongside country icon, Sheryl Crow. Earlier in July, he teamed up with Megan Moroney to perform the raucous anthem.
After his set, Zach Bryan took to social media to thank Andrew for helping to give his Oregon performance an additional sheen of significance, with the baying crowd cheering Andrew on every step of the way and chanting his name as he began his take on ‘Heading South’.
‘Heading South’, which appeared on Zach Bryan's acclaimed 2020 album, Elisabeth, retains its place close to the heart of many fans. It was a couple of grainy videos of Zach performing ‘Heading South’ and ‘Condemned’, recorded while off-duty in the Navy, that helped to launch the alt-country prodigy's career back in 2019.
The eagerly awaited project is due to be released in August, and is expected to feature an array of recently teased tracks, such as ‘I Remember Everything’ and an untitled collaboration with Sierra Ferrell.
