Why Megan Moroney’s Lock Screen Is The Least Interesting Thing About Sunday Night

Megan Moroney just made history with her performance at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as the first country music artist to sing at the event. But 24 hours later, all the internet can talk about is the man she may or may not be dating.

Moroney’s moment on the Victoria’s Secret Runway was monumental for her career and for the genre as a whole. Kelsea Ballerini and Taylor Swift have performed on the runway before, but during their pop-leaning album cycles. Moroney is the first country country music artist to perform at the show and, alongside Tate McRae, Katseye and Megan Thee Stallion, forms part of the third female-only performances in the event’s 26 runway history.

Singing a medley from her Cloud 9 album, she gave the audience a taste of the project that debuted at number one on the US Top Country Albums chart and the US Billboard 200. She is one of ten artists to ever have an album debut at number one in both charts, and one of only four females to do so, joining Taylor Swift, Ella Langley and Beyonce. That’s no mean feat.

She is an award winning powerhouse, with accolades from ACM, AMA, Billboard, CMA, MTV and eligible for 2026 Grammy consideration.

Moroney was an artist to shout about at the 26th Annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

But, alas, her moment in the sun has been reduced to whoever is on her phone’s lock screen, and it took less than 24 hours.

It is quite literally the least interesting thing to come from that evening but feels like the easiest news piece to run. She made history. She has achieved something that no one else has and no one else will ever again.

We should care more.

She was the first country music artist to perform at one of the most high profile events, with over 3.6 million viewers. And she’s not just the first female country artist to do it, she’s the first country artist
That matters.

Do you know what doesn’t matter? Who the helly the man is on her lock screen. The lock screen that she accidentally left visible while posing for a picture after her show. It’s so boring.

Megan Moroney is an icon because she’s Megan Moroney. We should be talking more about her and less about who she’s dating.
