Thomas Rhett has seemingly teased an upcoming collaboration with Morgan Wallen, ‘Mamaw's House’, a fan-favourite unreleased track that Rhett first teased back in 2020.
Taking to his Instagram, Thomas Rhett shared a new post on Monday, September 25 with a collage of endearingly nostalgic photos of him as a child at his grandmother's home. More recently, in tandem with his 2024 tour announcement, Morgan Wallen confirmed he has a collaboration with Thomas Rhett being released on Friday, September 29, which is widely expected to be ‘Mamaw's House’.
He accompanied this with a lyric from the previously shared demo, ‘Mamaw's House’, which was co-written with Morgan Wallen. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot that Rhett had subtly tagged Wallen in the penultimate photo in the Instagram carousel, which hopefully means the two artists are gearing up to release the track as a duet.
This would undoubtedly be a blockbuster collaboration between two modern country heavyweights, and given the introspective, down-home theme of ‘Mamaw's House’, it would fit neatly onto Thomas Rhett's long-awaited Country Again (Side B) project.
Should this tantalising link-up come to fruition, it wouldn't be the first time Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen have joined forces. Rhett co-wrote ‘Whiskey'd My Way’, one of the many highlights from Wallen's record-breaking 2021 double-album, Dangerous.
With this new Instagram post, it certainly feels like Thomas Rhett is laying the foundation for a big single announcement, as he prepares to enter his next musical era.
At the end of September, the ‘Angels (Don't Always Have Wings)’ hitmaker will be releasing a compilation CD and Vinyl boxset, comprising his 21 Number Ones to date.
We suspect he'll wait until this project has been made available before revealing any further information about his next album, which will hopefully feature ‘Mamaw's House’ and another much-loved demo that Rhett teased earlier in the year, ‘Feelin’ Country’.
