During his recent run of show-stopping performances across the UK and Ireland for C2C Festival, Thomas Rhett teased a brand new song, entitled ‘Feelin’ Country’.
At a label showcase ahead of Rhett's headlining set in London, the ‘What's Your Country Song’ hitmaker introduced the new track by explaining that he wrote it in honour of his wife, Lauren Akins.
Rhett joked, “My wife and I go down town once a year...but when my wife is ready, she's ready”. ‘Feelin’ Country’ playfully details Lauren's ability to rapidly shift into party mode when the time comes.
‘Feelin’ Country’ leans into a 90s-inspired country feel and would no doubt send a honky-tonk bar into a frenzy, with Rhett even name-checking the ‘King of Country’ himself, George Strait.
It's a fun, uptempo track that Rhett also performed at the O2 Arena, which in turn instigated a venue-wide sea of applause.
Fans will be hoping the track makes it onto Rhett's next record, which is expected to be the sequel to his celebrated 2021 project, Country Again (Side A).
As fans were awaiting that project last year, Rhett instead treated them to a surprise album, Where We Started, which has produced hits such as ‘Slow Down Summer’, ‘Paradise’ and the singer-songwriter's latest single, ‘Angels (Don't Always Have Wings)’.
