Morgan Wallen brought his good buddy Moneybagg Yo for his now-iconic walk-out during his second tour-stop in Minneapolis, Minnesota with the two artists dancing along to their brand new genre-blending collaboration, ’WHISKEY WHISKEY’.
After all the lights went tantalisingly down, the big screens lit up to show Morgan Wallen striding confidently towards the stage alongside a large speaker, initially soundtracked by his traditional walk-out song - his Lil Durk link-up, ‘Broadway Girls’.
Partway through this, however, Morgan met and embraced Moneybagg Yo, with the screen momentarily turning off, before the two artists reappeared with their fiery, infectious duet, ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY’ replacing ’Broadway Girls’ on the stadium speakers.
Attendees at the US Bank Stadium had been assuming that, given the fact Moneybagg Yo was in the building, he might emerge during Morgan Wallen's set for the live debut of their blazing, 808-propelled collaboration, which was first teased back in 2021 and finally arrived this month as part of Moneybagg's new album, SPEAK NOW.
However, he didn't come out, meaning we'll have to wait a little longer before we get to witness this duet live for the first time. ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY’ continues Morgan Wallen's foray into rap and trap-leaning territory, following his two Lil Durk collaborations (‘Broadway Girls’ and ’Stand By Me’) and a plethora of genre-fusing stand-outs on his record-breaking 2023 project, One Thing At A Time, such as ‘Cowgirls’ with ERNEST, ’Ain't That Some’, ’Sunrise’ and ‘180 (Lifestyle)’.
Morgan Wallen's part-rapped second verse on ’WHISKEY WHISKEY’ has raised some eyebrows due to his flurry of not-so-subtle, whiskey-soaked innuendos, with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker also taking the helm for the addictive, heartbroken chorus.
The decision to introduce ’WHISKEY WHISKEY’ into his pre-show walk-out soundtrack was not the only new addition to Morgan Wallen's Minneapolis concert, with the Sneedville singer-songwriter also performing his blockbuster Post Malone collaboration, ’I Had Some Help’, on both nights at the US Bank Stadium this weekend.
Coupled with the fact that Morgan Wallen then deactivated his Instagram the following day - as did his frequent co-writer, ERNEST - these changes have led many fans to think the country megastar is gearing up for a big announcement in the coming days.
Morgan will release his long-awaited new single, ’Lies, Lies, Lies’, on July 4th to coincide with his colossal BST Hyde Park headlining show in London, UK, and many suspect he has some surprises up his sleeve for that performance - especially after the ‘Thought You Should Know’ crooner hinted there's “plenty more in the pipeline” alongside the release of ’Lies, Lies, Lies’ via a rare video update last week.
