Morgan Wallen has added another chapter to his stellar record of rap collaborations, with the country megastar joining forces with Tennessee rapper, Moneybagg Yo, for ‘Whiskey Whiskey’, which features on the latter's new album, SPEAK NOW.

Although this surprise link-up seemingly arrived out of the blue, Morgan and Moneybagg have been teasing ‘Whiskey Whiskey’ since 2022, with an early demo of the song originally appearing on social media and YouTube under the working title, ‘Tired Of It’.

Morgan Wallen wraps a ferocious, snarling drawl around the rattling, 808-driven beat for the addictive hook, which finds the Sneedville crooner lamenting his lover's exit and subtly tipping his cap to his much-loved 2023 track, ‘Whiskey Friends’ (“Now it's me and all my whiskey friends / And I'm tired of it, tired of it”).

Moneybagg Yo takes the helm for a fiery opening verse, with Morgan delivering an alcohol-soaked second verse peppered with double-entendres such as “She's so cold, I had to go and pour you over ice”. Although it seems the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter is primarily addressing his old flame, we find out in the final lines he's actually just referring to his relationship with the whiskey.

It's not the first time Morgan Wallen has dipped his toes into the rap world, with the Hot 100 chart-topper combining with his good friend Lil Durk for ‘Broadway Girls’ back in 2021 and ‘Stand By Me’ in 2023, with Durk even teasing a full-length collaborative album.

Morgan Wallen continues to experiment with hip-hop-infused sonics on his solo material, too, with ‘180 (Lifestyle)’ from his record-breaking 2023 project, One Thing At A Time, interpolating ‘Lifestyle’ by Rich Gang, Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, while ‘Ain't That Some’, ‘Sunrise’, ‘You Proof’ and ‘Cowgirls’ all explore similar territory. Fans are hoping Morgan decides to retain these genre-mixing textures on his forthcoming album, which is expected to arrive later in the year.
