Morgan Wallen has released his Abbey Road Sessions, featuring seven songs recorded at the iconic London studio during his time in the UK last December, ahead of his O2 Arena show.

The surprise project has arrived on the one year anniversary of Morgan's record-breaking album, One Thing At A Time, with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker performing five fan-favourites from the widely lauded project as part of the newly unveiled sessions.

Excitingly, in addition, Morgan Wallen has also recorded a live version of an unreleased track, ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, which the Sneedville singer-songwriter teased in February during a Nashville writers’ round with HARDY, ERNEST and Larry Fleet.

On the Abbey Road version, a twinkling acoustic guitar rebounds against a stormy, brooding electric guitar, creating an atmospheric backdrop for Morgan Wallen's charismatic drawl.

He showcases his vocal dexterity throughout the turbulent hook, which finds Morgan Wallen lamenting the relentless downward spiral the break-up has sent him into. Off the back of this captivating rendition, it's safe to say fans are hoping the ‘Thought You Should Know’ chart-topper releases ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ before too long.

In addition, Morgan Wallen has shared a rare cover of Nothing But Thieves’ ‘Graveyard Whistling’. Although an unexpected inclusion, it feels somewhat apt that Morgan chose to pay homage to the British indie rock band while spending time in the UK.

Similarly to ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, ‘Graveyard Whistling’ enables Morgan Wallen to highlight his ability to navigate new sonic territory with ease, as Morgan brings a tenderness and deftness to his vocal performance on the sinuous, alt-leaning recording.

As well as serving as a tribute to the UK's musical heritage, Morgan Wallen's decision to cover ‘Graveyard Whistling’ seemingly hints at the country megastar's increasing infusion of different genres into his sound. Throughout One Thing At A Time, Morgan demonstrated his affinity for Hip Hop (‘180 (Lifestyle)’), indie rock (‘Last Drive Down Main’), ‘80s-inspired pop (‘One Thing At A Time’) and more.

Along with ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ and ‘Graveyard Whistling’, Morgan Wallen recorded five One Thing At A Time stand-outs while at the Abbey Road Studios, ‘Everything I Love’, ‘Thinkin’ Bout Me’, ‘Sunrise’, ‘I Wrote The Book’ and ‘I Deserve A Drink’.

Speaking ahead of the release, Morgan emphasised how special it was being in the famed London studio, before thanking the fans that have propelled him to this point, “Playing the O2 in London last fall and getting to record at Abbey Road, where so much iconic music has been made, was legendary for me and my band. We will never forget it. I'm so excited to release these Abbey Road Sessions for my fans on the one-year anniversary of One Thing At A Time. They make all this possible”.

This Abbey Road Sessions will no doubt help to tide fans over as they keenly await Morgan Wallen's One Thing At A Time follow-up, which he started recording in late February.

Especially after his stellar Abbey Road rendition, listeners will undoubtedly be keeping their fingers crossed that ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ makes its way onto the tracklist - and that it's joined by another much-loved unreleased song, ‘I Guess’.
