Megan Moroney has continued her immensely successful year by taking home her first ever CMT Award.
The country prodigy's ‘Tennessee Orange’ was crowned the 2023 Breakthrough Female Video of the Year.
The much-loved single is due to appear on Moroney's upcoming debut album, Lucky, which will also feature recently released singles, such as ‘I'm Not Pretty’ and the project's title-track.
In the Georgia native's acceptance speech, she made a point of thanking the music video's director, Jason Lester, as well as her parents. Moroney gave a particularly special shout-out to her mother, as she explained that her flight to Nashville to shoot the music video had been cancelled, which put the whole production in jeopardy.
However, her mother selflessly drove through the night to get Megan Moroney to Music City in time, and ensured she was still able to shoot the ‘Tennessee Orange’ video.
It's an endearing, football-themed ballad that continues to surge up the charts. With the added boost of Moroney's debut CMT Award win, many are tipping ‘Tennessee Orange’ as a future Country Radio No. 1 - and with the way the rising star's past six months have gone, few would be betting against her.
The 2023 CMT Breakthrough Female Video of the Year category was another hotly contested affair, with Avery Anna, Kylie Morgan, MacKenzie Porter, Morgan Wade and Tiera Kennedy all battling it out with Megan Moroney for the coveted prize.
