The new video brings the levity and vibrance of the song to life, with Moroney playfully stepping into the shoes of a variety of high-school characters throughout.
‘I'm Not Pretty’ was one of the singles released ahead of Megan Moroney's widely celebrated 2023 album, Lucky, and remains an undisputed fan-favourite from the project.
After being officially sent to Country Radio on August 7, ‘I'm Not Pretty’ immediately became the most added song of the week, with the high-energy track expected by many to follow in the sizeable footsteps of Moroney's chart-topping 2022 single, ‘Tennessee Orange’.
The Georgia native's newly unveiled music video will no doubt give the track an additional boost as it continues its rapid ascent up the charts, with the light-hearted, colourful visuals accentuating the tongue-in-cheek message of ‘I'm Not Pretty’.
The video arrives hot on the heels of a special acoustic version of ‘I'm Not Pretty’, which Megan Moroney dropped last week as part of her two-song ‘I'm Not Prettier’ release.
The idea for the song was sparked by the girlfriend of Megan Moroney's ex accidentally liking one of the singer-songwriter's old photos, with Moroney then imagining the new flame criticising her and acting like the ‘Queen of the Mean Girls’ Committee’.
This is followed by the killer punchline, with Moroney brushing off the new girlfriend's barbs with the titular put-down, “But hey, whatever helps / Keep on telling yourself / I'm not pretty”.
