The 2023 CMT Awards nominations are in, and - to Megan Moroney's father's chagrin - Texas could well be turning a shade of ‘Tennessee Orange’ by the time April 2 rolls around.
Moroney's hugely popular ballad, ‘Tennessee Orange’, has received two nods.
The infectious track explores a star-crossed love story, which is complicated by the deep-seated football rivalry between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Georgia Bulldogs,
Earlier in the year, Moroney gave the hit single an accompany music video, which cleverly puts the viewer in the shoes of her love interest as she carries out a variety of Tennessee-themed activities.
At the upcoming 2023 CMT Awards ceremony at Austin's Moody Center, Megan Moroney will battle it out with her fellow artists for Breakthrough Female Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year.
Moroney is nominated for the latter in recognition of her stellar CMT Viral to Verified performance in January.
‘Tennessee Orange’ earns Moroney her first ever CMT Awards nominations, and the track is set to appear on the singer-songwriter's upcoming album, Lucky.
The project is due to be released on May 5, and will also feature Moroney's most recent single, the playful ‘I'm Not Pretty’. The Georgia native confirmed that Lucky's title-track will be released on March 10.
Just under two weeks after the 2023 CMT Awards ceremony, which is due to take place on April 2 and will air live on CBS, Megan Moroney will drop another new single, ‘Girl in the Mirror’, on April 14.
The 2023 CMT Awards will be hosted once again by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, both of whom have received nominations for the evening's most prized accolade, Video of the Year.
