Luke Combs has today surprised fans by releasing an acoustic version of ‘Going, Going, Gone’. The track originally featured on the 2022 CMA Entertainer of the Year's acclaimed Growin’ Up album, which dropped in June.
‘Going, Going, Gone’ was recently announced as Luke's latest single to be sent to Country Radio, and it is widely expected to become his fifteenth consecutive No. 1.
In its studio form, the track is a deeply moving and heart-rending reflection on the departure of a lover who was always ‘born to run’.
But by stripping away the production and musical decoration, so that it's just Luke's husky vocals coupled with a peaceful acoustic guitar, the song takes on a heightened sense of wistfulness and vulnerability.
Luke teased the possibility of an acoustic rendition of ‘Going, Going, Gone’ when he released a video of him performing the track back in July.
However, few were expecting him to make it available to stream today - and few will be complaining that he did.
The acoustic release will no doubt help to give ‘Going, Going, Gone’ a gentle boost on its way to the top of the charts.
It comes after Luke uploaded a video of him playing a brand new song, ‘Tattoo On A Sunburn’, earlier in the week.
It's a nostalgic ode to a holiday romance, and it serves as the latest hint that the North Carolina songsmith may be preparing to unveil the second part of his Growin’ Up album, which we suspect could be entitled, Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old.
