Lainey Wilson has shared a playful, light-hearted recap video from her and her husband Devlin ‘Duck Hodges’ family vacation to Turks & Caicos. The ‘Heart Like a Truck’ hitmaker even references Drake as she reveals she visited Noah's Ark, which is widely known to be one of the Toronto rapper's favourite spots when visiting Turks.
The video captures the levity that Wilson always endeavours to lace into her social media presence, and serves as a behind-the-scenes look into the country titan's life.
Wilson begins by joking, “Alright, y'all. Wilson family vacation, Turks and Caicos...I mean, Turks and Chaos. We had a good ol’ time. This is my Daddy's first time out of the country, and he wore his Wranglers and his boots on the beach...and he drove the jet ski like a bat out of hell. And Mama held on like a tick on a hound-dog!”
The Louisiana native fondly narrates footage of the family having fun on the beach, seeing some marine life and more, “But boy, we had a good time. Going to check out the sea turtles. Me and my mom and sister had our matching tiger-by-the-tail PJs, and Uncle Duck's trying to keep these kids acting right - and it did not work!”
She jokes about her sister and her nephews, “Y'all look how beautiful. I mean, just look at it. This is the day that we got there. My sister had already used a whole bottle of tan in a can before we got there. Look them legs. Ah, sun-kissed. Just sun-kissed. Knox and Ledger, man. They ain't never seen anything like this in their life”.
Wilson continues, “Neither has their Aunt Lainey, coolest Aunt in the world! When we asked for horseback riding on the beach, we did not know that this is what we were actually gonna get. But you get what you get. You don't take it. Well, the little one did a few times, but anyway. Also, Daddy's legs ain't seen the sun in about 64 years”.
The ‘Country's Cool Again’ singer-songwriter showcases how much she loves Knox and Ledger as she shares clips of them together, before including a heartwarming video of them all dancing to her new song, ‘Kinda Love It’, “Ain't nothing like watching excavator videos for breakfast. Nope, and spitting out your food on the plate. Buzz Lightyear coming in fast. Look how stinking cute, y'all. He is a menace. I told Knox and Ledger that I would give them $20 if they twerked to ‘Kinda Love It’. I still ain't gave them $20. I'm hoping they forgot until they see this video”.
Then Wilson recalls visiting Noah's Ark, an iconic floating bar and restaurant in Half Moon Bay - a spot that ‘God's Plan’ rapper Drake has been known to frequent. Wilson name-checks Drake as she enthusiastically explains, “We went to Noah's Ark in the middle of the water. I know Drake goes there a lot, so that's cool! Living, y'all”.
This is likely just a reference to the fact that Drake is often spotted at Noah's Ark on social media, with the ‘Janice STFU’ crooner regularly appearing in videos from the bar and even expressing his affinity for Turks & Caicos in a number of his songs.
But in our over-excitable minds, we're already fantasising about a potential collaboration between Drake and Wilson. Drizzy has, of course, shown love to country music throughout his career, but especially in recent years, linking up with Morgan Wallen on numerous occasions and then remixing Ella Langley's ‘Choosin’ Texas’ this year.
Whether a blockbuster Drake collaboration is on the cards for Wilson or not, either way, we're looking forward to the 2025 CMA Entertainer of the Year's forthcoming body of work.
‘Kind Love It’ - which features in this Turks & Caicos recap - is a brilliant, infectious anthem on the thrill of new love, while ‘Phone, Keys, Wallet’ captures the jovial, tongue-in-cheek side of Wilson that she highlights in this video. Wilson is on a hot streak, and her next album is already shaping up to be one of her most anticipated - and judging by these insightful, carefree videos and her recent Netflix documentary, she's willing to show every aspect of her personality for her fans.
