Surrounded by ominous wisps of smoke and dramatic shrubbery, Lainey Wilson took to the Bridgestone Arena stage to perform her song 'Wildflowers and Wild Horses' at the 2023 CMA Awards.
A night filled with a who's who of country's finest, Lainey Wilson dazzled the crowd as she sang the hit taken from her critically acclaimed album Bell Bottom Country.
The song, which is a powerful anthem that addresses independence, resilience and an outlaw spirit, is one of the more cinematic moments on the widely celebrated album, delivering a strong message from country's new leading lady.
As the song reached its fiery climax, the ring behind Lainey Wilson was suddenly ablaze, with the singer-songwriter showcasing her rockier, stormier side through the performance.
It's been an undoubtedly huge year for Wilson, who seems to be rising to country superstardom at an exponential rate. She led nominations with nine nods for this year's awards - including in the prestigious Entertainer of the Year category alongside Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and Carrie Underwood - has just announced a 2024 tour and continues to dominate country charts.
The night before Lainey took the stage at the CMA Awards, Lainey delivered a rousing cover of Deana Carter's ‘Strawberry Wine’ at the BMI Awards. Ahead of the ceremony, the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ hitmaker received two early wins for Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for her HARDY duet, ‘wait in the truck’.
Other performances at the Awards included a blockbuster collaboration between Morgan Wallen and Eric Church, Jelly Roll with 'Need a Favor', Kelsea Ballerini with 'Leave Me again' and many more.
