Lainey Wilson has taken home the Female Video of the Year trophy at the 2023 CMT Music Awards for her newest No. 1 single at country radio, 'Heart Like A Truck'.
"My heart is about to beat right out of my chest," Wilson shared while accepting the honour. She explained that the uplifting tune is about finding freedom and strength, not being afraid of the difficulties along the way and how we all have a story to tell.
Wilson also mentioned that the music video for 'Heart Like A Truck' was written, filmed, produced and directed entirely by women.
"I want to say thank you, first of all, to Jesus for this opportunity." Wilson added, "Thank you CMT for literally believing in me before a lot of folks did. I also want to say thank you so much to the fans.
I feel like I'm watching my dreams come true right before my eyes... This is for y'all. I love y'all so much!"
Earning the Louisiana native her second win of the night, 'Heart Like A Truck' is the lead single off of Wilson's sophomore country record, Bell Bottom Country. Earlier tonight, Wilson gave a moving performance of the track that put her high-flying vocals on full display.
Fellow nominees in the highly competitive category included Carly Pearce's 'What He Didn't Do,' Carrie Underwood's 'Ghost Story,' Gabby Barrett's 'Pick Me Up,' Kelsea Ballerini's 'HEARTFIRST,' Maren Morris' 'Humble Quest' and Miranda Lambert's 'Actin' Up.'
Last year, Lambert's dreamy hit, 'If I Was A Cowboy,' won the honour, bringing the Texas native up to 14 total CMT wins throughout her career.
The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year also gave her debut television performance of the tune in 2022, which was the lead single of her ninth studio album, Palomino, released in April 2022.
