Jelly Roll brought his good buddy and collaborator Ernest out for a special performance of ‘Son Of A Sinner’ during Country Concert 2023 in Fort Loramie, Ohio this past weekend.
Ernest and Jelly co-wrote the anthemic track, which appears on the latter's acclaimed 2021 album, Ballads of the Broken. ‘Son Of A Sinner’ went on to become Jelly Roll's first ever No. 1 at Country Radio, and remains one of the genre-fusing artist's most recognisable songs to date.
Jelly Roll kicked off ‘Son Of A Sinner’ solo, before introducing Ernest partway through the track. The ‘Flower Shops’ hitmaker was greeted by a sea of cheers and applause from the packed-out Ohio audience.
Ernest has been including ‘Son Of A Sinner’ in his setlist throughout his 2023 tour-dates in support of his other Tennesseean pal, Morgan Wallen, on his colossal One Night At A Time world tour.
Ernest recalled the way that ‘Son Of A Sinner’ came about during a recent speech in Nashville, as he presented Jelly Roll with the Billboard Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award. In his acceptance speech, Jelly Roll paid tribute to Ernest as one of the only friends he had in country music as he tried to break into the genre.
Elsewhere during Jelly Roll's eye-catching Country Concert 2023 set, the much-loved singer-songwriter delivered a rousing rendition of his latest single, ‘Need A Favor’, which continues to climb the charts, and seems on-track to become Jelly's second Country Radio No. 1.
In addition, Jelly Roll treated his Ohio fans to a surprise appearance from Priscilla Block, who also delivered an impressive solo set during the weekend's stacked run of performances.
Alongside Jelly Roll, Ernest and Priscilla Block, the Fort Loramie attendees were able to witness memorable on-stage moments from Bailey Zimmerman, Tim McGraw, Jordan Davis, Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, Carly Pearce, Brothers Osborne and more.
