Who better to mentor a group of hopeful young artists with big dreams than someone, who not so long ago, was one themselves?
On Monday night's (April 8) episode of American Idol, Jelly Roll joined the all-star panel of judges – Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie – to take up his place as one of the season's musical mentors.
Throughout his appearance on the show, he doled out advice and encouragement to the Top 24 contestants and even put on a performance himself.
During the episode, the 'Need a Favor' star took the stage to perform his Whitsitt Chapel hit, 'Halfway to Hell.' In front of a crowd clapping along to the fiery tune, the artist delivered an unforgettable show.
However, the night before saw him offer up an even more blistering display of the song.
After securing wins for Male Video of the Year, Breakthrough Male Video and Digital-First Performance at the 2024 CMT Music Awards, Jelly Roll gave the most impassioned performance of his career to date.
'Halfway to Hell,' a song that speaks to his rags-to-riches rise to stardom, was made even more powerful with the three trophies in the bag, but the wins don't stop there.
Jelly Roll recently nabbed his first-ever ACM Awards nominations. The artist will be up for Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for 'Need A Favor', Music Event of the Year, as well as Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming May 16 ceremony.
