Contemporary Christian rapper Hulvey has teased a brand new country song, with the ‘NO LONGER BOUND’ hitmaker asking fans to help him decide who should feature on it.

The track still feels grounded in Hip Hop, with Hulvey singing softly across a gentle, undulating piano instrumental. As the drums gain intensity, he switches to a more rapid-fire rap flow, with there being hints of his classic, part-singing vocal style throughout.

Hulvey has captioned the post, “Hulvey made a country song?”, adding that his family and crew have been trying to encourage him to release this faith-filled, country-leaning offering for a while now, “My whole team is begging me to drop this song…”

It's safe to say it won't be country enough to appease the more traditionalist figures in the industry, but with a variety of artists pushing the boundaries of the genre and experimenting with refreshing new sounds, we're excited to see what Hulvey can bring. He released his lauded fourth studio album, COULD BE TONIGHT, in April, but it looks like the ‘Altar’ rapper already has plans to treat us to more new music.

In the comments, Hulvey asks for recommendations of who he should recruit to join him on the song, which is yet to be given an official title. Various artists have been thrown out, both from the Contemporary Christian Music and country spheres.

Forrest Frank's name has popped up a lot, and given his stellar track record of collaborations with Hulvey, we certainly wouldn't be mad about seeing these two link up again. He recently dipped his toes into the country world again with ‘2 STEP THE ENEMY‘, a collaboration with LOST & FOUND and ZVC, with Forrest also teaming up with Thomas Rhett in 2025 for the joyful, infectious ’NOTHING ELSE’.

Numerous country artists have been proposed, including Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey, Rhett, Post Malone Anne Wilson, Jelly Roll, Russell Dickerson, Cody Johnson and more.

Two artists who have blurred the lines between Contemporary Christian Music, country and folk in recent years, Josiah Queen and Brandon Lake, have also been named a few times.

Given how Lake in particular is currently venturing into the country music space, dropping collaborations with the likes of Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Gabby Barrett, Jelly Roll and Bailey Zimmerman, as well as teasing new duets with HARDY, Dan + Shay, Tyler Hubbard, Russell Dickerson and more, he would be a great choice for Hulvey as he also looks to explore the intersection of these two genres.

In response to one comment questioning whether Hulvey would be leaving the Hip Hop space altogether, the rapper proudly makes it clear that he won't be making a whole-hearted shift to country, “hip hop in my veins!! Ain’t never leaving, a part of who I am”.

When one fan suggests Josiah King - the hilarious alter-ego of Josiah Queen - Hulvey drops a playful response, claiming that the “Josiah king feature price is $1M unfortunately”.

Elsewhere in the comments, as fans excitedly speculate as to who the featured artist could be, Hulvey responds to a follower who dons this new track as “the one”, outlining that his team would agree, “man that’s what everyone saying 😂 I honestly been sleeping on it”. We're hoping we get a clue as to who Hulvey has in mind for this new collaboration, as well as an official title and release date, in the coming weeks...
