The Background:
After teasing a mysterious collaboration across socials, Josiah Queen finally revealed that he'd been working with famed Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) outfit, ELEVATION RHYTHM, on a brand new track. Their joint offering, ’AMAZING!’ arrived on Friday, July 17th as part of the Charleston group's 2026 WASHED EP.
It continues a hot streak of releases from Queen, who is quickly cementing himself as one of the most influential and trailblazing artists in the intersection between folk and CCM.
The Sound:
‘AMAZING!’ opens in Queen's signature pared-down, acoustic guitar-driven style, before gradually building out over the course of the verses before we reach a rousing, soul-stirring crescendo with the euphoric hook. Given the praise-filled lyrics and gratitude-laced message of this song, the instrumental needs to match the unbounded and faith-based energy and joy - and it's safe to say it delivers.
The Meaning:
The ‘AMAZING!’ lyrics revolve around the sense of relief and thankfulness the protagonist feels, as he reflects on how he was previously on a one-way path towards hell. But since embracing God and Jesus with open arms, the narrator now finds comfort in the knowledge that “I've been set free / Now heaven's my home for all eternity”.
At the heart of this galvanising battle-cry is the belief that, through Jesus’ death on the cross, He cleansed everyone of their sin, and made it possible for us to establish a relationship with Him. The protagonist likens this feeling to that of going from the all-encompassing darkness of being blind to stepping out into the light.
The lines, “Hallelujah to the man on the middle cross / 'Cause He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off / And He rolled away the stone”, is a reference to Matthew 28:2 in the Bible, where the disciples and women with them find the stone at the entrance to Jesus’ tomb has been rolled to the side, a sign that He has been resurrected.
The phrasing of “He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off” touches on the idea that, in order to cleanse humanity of their sin, there had to be a sacrifice from someone who was blameless. The only truly sin-less person in history is believed to be Jesus, meaning he was the only one who could die for us and wash away our sins.

“I was headed for hell until He rescued me
I was stuck in my shame
But now I've been set free
Now heaven's my home for all eternity
I once was blind but now I see
-
I was headed for hell until He rescued me
I was stuck in my shame
But now I've been set free
Now heaven's my home for all eternity
I once was blind but now I see
-
I believe in Jesus' name
I believe He died to save
On the cross He cleared my name
Isn't that amazing grace?
I believe on that third day
That He walked right out that grave
Full of life with Him I'm raised
Isn't that amazing?
-
That I was headed for hell until He rescued me
I was stuck in my shame
But now I've been set free
Now heaven's my home for all eternity
I once was blind but now I see

Hallelujah to the man on the middle cross
'Cause He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off
And He rolled away the stone
Now I'm gettin' up
I'm gettin' up
I'm gettin' up
Hallelujah to the man on the middle cross
'Cause He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off
And He rolled away the stone
Now I'm gettin' up
I'm gettin' up (Sing hallelujah to the man)
I'm gettin' up
Hallelujah to the man on the middle cross
'Cause He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off (Oh yes He did)
And He rolled away the stone
Now I'm gettin' up (Said, "I'm gettin' up")
I'm gettin' up (Sing hallelujah to)
I'm gettin' up
Hallelujah to the man on the middle cross (His Name is Jesus)
'Cause He didn't owe the debt but He paid it off (And He rolled away the stone)
