While it might feel like Shaboozey fell from relative obscurity straight into the country-rap limelight overnight, his story goes back much further than 'A Bar Song,' and there's much more to his artistry than just getting tipsy.

Born Collins Obinna Chibueze, the Virginia-born artist first gained major attention in 2017 thanks to his breakout hit, 'Jeff Gordon.' After securing a record deal with Republic Records shortly after, Shaboozey continued to make a name for himself with projects like 2018's Lady Wrangler and 2022's Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die, both of which saw him concocting his unique blend of country, rap, hip-hop and trap music.

By 2024, he'd become a true artist worth watching after landing not one, but two features on Beyoncé's blockbuster country record, COWBOY CARTER. From there, it was off to the races as he followed this colossal opportunity up with the release of his viral megahit, 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).' Eventually tying the record for the longest run atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 with 19 weeks, the interpolation song become one of the top tunes of the year and easily surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, fully catapulting him into the forefront of the next generation of country hitmakers.

Shaboozey's 2024 album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, offers a perfect cross-section of the burgeoning, genre blending artist with standout tunes like 'Annabelle,' 'Vegas' and 'Let It Burn' all showing the complex layers of his artistry. The expansive collection also features collaborations with the likes of Jelly Roll, Sierra Ferrell, Noah Cyrus, BigXthaPlug, Myles Smith and Paul Cauthen.

In the span of just a few years, Shaboozey has garnered multiple nominations at prestigious award shows, including nods for Song of the Year and Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, no doubt marking just the beginning of his long and winding musical journey.
