HARDY and Lainey Wilson's chart-topping murder ballad, ‘wait in the truck’, has been officially certified Platinum.
The duo were presented with the prestigious RIAA plaque while backstage on the opening night of their Fall arena tour in Knoxville, Tennessee. During the show, HARDY brought out Lainey for a rousing rendition of the collaboration, as well as covering his good buddy, Morgan Wallen.
Released in 2022, ‘wait in the truck’ served as one of the lead singles from HARDY's acclaimed 2023 double-album, the mockingbird & THE CROW, which blended country, rock and metal influences.
The dark, ominous track follows the story of a man who stumbles across an injured woman while driving late at night. After asking who did this to her, the song's protagonist promptly storms up to the abuser's house, kicks down the door and delivers a fatal gunshot.
It showcases the intricate, evocative lyricism and storytelling that has made HARDY one of the most sought-after songwriters in Nashville, with the Mississippi native having penned hits for the likes of Blake Shelton (‘God's Country’), Morgan Wallen (‘More Than My Hometown’), Florida Georgia Line (‘Simple’) and more.
Following their blockbuster first night in Knoxville, HARDY and Lainey Wilson have shows lined up across Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama and more.
Although his latest single, ‘TRUCK BED’, continues to climb the charts, it seems HARDY's attention has already turned to his next body of work, with the singer-songwriter having recently shared photos from a studio session on his Instagram page.
Fans will be hoping this either means HARDY is hard at work on his next solo album, or that he's compiling the hotly anticipated next instalment of his Hixtape series, which is expected to be announced towards the end of the year.
