HARDY NEW ALBUM 2023 - HIXTAPE VOL. 3

Expected Release Date: Second Half of 2023

Title: Hixtape Vol. 3

Tracklist:

  • TBC

HARDY has already released one album this year, the Jekyll & Hyde-esque the mockingbird & THE CROW, which found the Mississippi native exploring a variety of rock and screamo flourishes.

Nonetheless, as HARDY proclaimed on one of his earliest hits, you won't find anybody ‘REDNECKER’ than him, and regardless of his new, rockier sound, it's safe to say he'll never forget his down-home roots.

Epitomising this is his beloved HIXTAPE series of records, which are always packed to the brim with small town anthems and blockbuster guest appearances. Since he dropped the second instalment in late 2021, fans have been clamouring for Vol. 3 to be made available.

In a 2023 interview with Holler, HARDY revealed that work has already begun on HIXTAPE Vol. 3, and he also promised that the new project would include a plethora of surprises for fans.

He shared that “we have the ball rolling on HIXTAPE Vol. 3”, before going on to tease that the record will be “completely different, but in the best way. Everybody’s going to be like, ‘No way, really?‘”

The country-rock maverick also confirmed to Holler that the next instalment of the popular series would be “something completely different”.

Although HARDY has spoken in the past about envisioning the HIXTAPE series eventually becoming its own artistic entity, he nonetheless confirmed to Holler that “I should be on every HIXTAPE. In some form or fashion, I will be on every one”.

As for the plot twist that he's been hinting at, the ‘wait in the truck’ hitmaker mentioned in an interview with Billboard that he'd be interested in crafting an all-female ‘Chixtape’, as well as a rock-inspired HIXTAPE in the mould of the mockingbird & THE CROW.

On the topic of the latter, HARDY mused, “I could see doing a rock HIXTAPE, where I could write a bunch of rednecks, ‘He Went to Jared’ type of songs and get rock guys to sing on it”.

‘He Went to Jared’ appeared on the very first HIXTAPE, which dropped in 2019 and featured HARDY's good buddy, Morgan Wallen, one of the only artists to appear on both HIXTAPE projects. So far this year, HARDY and Wallen have linked up a number of times to perform ‘He Went to Jared’ during the latter's 2023 One Night At A Time world tour.

Over the course of the two HIXTAPEs so far, HARDY has brought together a star-studded roster of artists that includes Lainey Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Midland, Ernest Jake Owen, Keith Urban, Marty Stuart, Chase Rice, Brothers Osborne and more.

We'll be keeping our eye out for confirmation of a tracklist and more details as to the nature of HIXTAPE Vol. 3, which we'll hopefully be able to enjoy in the coming months.

HIXTAPE Vol. 1 arrived in September 2019, while HIXTAPE Vol. 2 dropped in December 2021. Judging by the pattern so far, it seems we'll likely be receiving HIXTAPE Vol. 3 towards the end of 2023.
