Drake just confirmed that he is - like so many others - officially an ‘Ella Fella’, with the ‘God's Plan’ hitmaker complimenting Ella Langley's songwriting in a new Instagram post.

Langley had shared a carousel of photos from her recent shows in Texas with the caption “Texas forever”. Drake has taken to the comments to gush, “Goated Pen”, underlining how much he rates the Alabama native's penmanship - i.e. her songwriting.

It's not the first time Drake has shown love to Langley with the self-proclaimed ‘6 God’ going viral earlier in the summer for playing ‘Choosin’ Texas’ during a DJ set in Houston, Texas.

Interestingly, Drake's comment arrives barely a day after Langley shared a playful video of her lip-syncing to his iconic collaboration with Lil Wayne, ‘HYFR (Hell Ya F***ing Right)’.

While we're wary of not getting swept away with the prospect of these two chart titans linking up, fans have inevitably responded to this back-and-forth by clamouring for a collaboration. Drake is a longstanding admirer of country music, having joined forces with and paid homage to Morgan Wallen on a number of occasions.

The internet was awash with speculation that Wallen was readying a blockbuster Drake collaboration ahead of his ICEMAN album in May. Ultimately, although Drizzy surprised us with three records instead of one, none of them featured an appearance from Wallen. Drake did, however, name-check Wallen on ‘White Bone’.

There's clearly a mutual respect between Drake and Langley, and although the Toronto rapper has never fully ventured into the country space sonically, we reckon they would sound fantastic together. Langley has proven before she can shine on a rap earworm - for instance, when Langley teamed up with BigXthaPlug on ‘Hell at Night’, it was one of the stand-outs from BigX's I Hope You're Happy album.

With Drake rumoured to be releasing the latest instalment of his Scary Hours EP series soon, perhaps he could sample Langley's ‘Choosin‘ Texas’ on a song from that project. Either way, even if there's no collaboration in the works, it's heartening to see two musical giants recognising one another, rather than fostering competition.
