It seems Ernest will have plenty of friendly competition at this year's ACM Awards ceremony in Texas.
Not only will he battle it out with his 2023 tourmate, Bailey Zimmerman, for the 2023 ACM New Male Artist of the Year, but Ernest has also been nominated for Artist-Songwriter of the Year, which includes his good buddies, HARDY and Morgan Wallen.
The other artists in contention for 2023 Artist-Songwriter of the Year are Miranda Lambert and Luke Combs, in what looks set to be a fiercely contested category that's jam-packed with some of country's biggest and most luminous stars.
Joining Ernest in the 2023 New Male Artist of the Year category, along with Bailey Zimmerman, is Zach Bryan, Nate Smith, Jackson Dean and Dylan Scott.
Although Ernest is very much a flagbearer for the Nashvillian brand of country music that Zach Bryan regularly distances himself from, the two have heartwarmingly become pals, with Ernest often poking fun at the Oklahoma singer-songwriter on his socials.
Ernest has enjoyed a stellar start to 2023, with the rising star having dropped his acclaimed deluxe album, Flower Shops (The Album): Two Dozen Roses in February.
In March, he flew Down Under with Bailey Zimmerman and HARDY to support Morgan Wallen on the first leg of his 2023 One Night At A Time world tour, which is due to resume this month.
Fans of Ernest's honeyed, neo-traditional sound will be hoping the ‘Comfortable When I'm Crazy’ crooner will be booked for a performance at the 2023 ACM Awards ceremony, which is due to take place in Frisco, Texas on May 11.
