Ernest surprised attendees at his show at Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium by bringing out his good buddy, HARDY, to perform Morgan Wallen's ‘More Than My Hometown’.
Ernest, HARDY and Morgan Wallen penned the chart-topping single alongside Charlie Handsome, with the down-home anthem quickly becoming one of the many highlights of Morgan's discography.
The duo delivered a stripped-back version of the track, with Ernest taking the lead with the acoustic guitar, while HARDY's vocals combined seamlessly with Ernest's to produce a noticeably more intricate performance compared to the country-rocker's live-wire solo sets.
‘More Than My Hometown’ was one of the lead singles from Morgan Wallen's record-breaking 2021 double-album, Dangerous, which also spawned streaming behemoths such as ‘7 Summers’, ‘Sand in My Boots’, ‘Wasted On You’ and ‘Cover Me Up’.
Ernest and HARDY's unexpected rendition of the track at the Ryman came during the first of Ernest's two back-to-back shows at the legendary venue, with the ‘Flower Shops’ hitmaker currently in the middle of his hugely popular This Fire tour.
Over the past few years, they've established themselves as two of the go-to songsmiths in Music City, with the duo sharing a plethora of No. 1 singles between them.
Excitingly, it seems fans can look forward to hearing HARDY and Ernest singing together again on the latter's upcoming album, with Ernest confirming earlier in the year that his friend and frequent collaborator will be appearing on the eagerly awaited project.
