Cody Johnson has revealed that his new album will feature a blockbuster duet with Carrie Underwood. It'll mark the first time Johnson has collaborated with the Oklahoma superstar, and it's safe to say fans are already chomping at the bit to hear their song.
Johnson teased the new track during an appearance on this week's CMT Nominees TV Special, which helped to stoke the flames of anticipation ahead of the 2023 CMT Awards on Sunday, April 2.
Although we're yet to receive any official releases from Cody Johnson's follow-up album to 2021's Human, fans were treated last year to a special live project, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB.
The singer-songwriter has already picked up a 2023 Grammy and the Best New Country Artist award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, along with a slew of 2023 CMT Award nominations. When you add in a sprawling list of summer tour dates and a new album, it's safe to say this year is shaping up to be a memorable one for the ‘Til You Can't’ hitmaker.
Cody Johnson's revelation on CMT came as part of a discussion about the Texan's selection as one of the final six contenders for the 2023 CMT Video of the Year Award.
On Sunday, April 2, Johnson will battle it out with a star-studded roster of artists for the coveted accolade, including his new duet partner, Carrie Underwood, who has won the award for the past four years running. Joining them in the prestigious category is Blake Shelton, Kane & Katelyn Brown, HARDY & Lainey Wilson and Morgan Wallen.
