In his newly released Holler Live Session, Charles Wesley Godwin has performed two unreleased songs that are both expected to feature on the fast-emerging artist's debut album with Big Loud.
During the session, as well as delivering a stellar rendition of the fan-favourite track from his 2019 Seneca project, ‘Hardwood Floors’, Wesley Godwin treated viewers to a double-header of unreleased material, performing ‘The Flood’ and ’Dance in Rain’.
The West Virginia songsmith has teased both on his socials in recent months, leading many to believe - and hope - that ‘The Flood’ and ’Dance in Rain’ will make their way onto his new album's tracklist.
The Flood retells the real-life story of Charles Wesley Godwin's mother, who made the dangerous trek across a bridge during the severe Election Day Floods of 1985 in West Virginia, in order to make it home to her anxiously waiting family.
‘The Flood’ is laced with the drama and intensity of other electrifying tracks in Wesley Godwin's burgeoning repertoire, such as ‘Lyin’ Low’, ’Strong’ and ‘Blood Feud’, all of which appear on his acclaimed 2021 record, How The Mighty Fall.
In addition, Charles Wesley Godwin performed the sweet, endearing ode to his daughter, ‘Dance in Rain’, during his Holler Live Session. Across the twinkling strum of his trusty guitar, Wesley Godwin's haunting, otherworldly vocals convey nuggets of wisdom to his child.
The country-folk prodigy first shared a clip of ‘Dance in Rain’ back in January, and fans have been calling for Charles Wesley Godwin to give the song an official release ever since.
The ‘Temporary Town’ singer-songwriter's decision to perform ‘The Flood’ and ‘Dance in Rain’ in his Holler Live Session seems to confirm suspicions that both songs will be included on his upcoming album. They'll hopefully be joined by other recently teased demos, such as ‘Willing and Able’, ‘Miner Imperfections’, ‘Gabriel’ and ‘All Again’.
