Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde's 2021 duet, ‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl’, has now been certified Platinum by the RIAA, in recognition of the song selling the equivalent of one million units.

The single remains one of the most prominent tracks in both artists’ repertoire, and even earned the two singer-songwriters their first Grammy award at the start of the year.

After going Gold towards the end of 2022, the chart-topping collaboration has now been officially certified Platinum, becoming Carly Pearce's fifth song to reach the coveted milestone.

Other Carly stand-outs to have gone Platinum include ‘Next Girl’ and ‘What He Didn't Do’, both of which appeared on the Kentucky native's acclaimed 2021 album, 29: Written in Stone.

‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl’ is Ashley McBryde's second song to go Platinum, with ‘One Night Standards’ having received the prestigious accolade in April 2021.

‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl’ a classic country cheatin’ song, with Carly and Ashley facing the heart-rending realisation over the course of the ballad that they've both been seeing the same man.

Ever since they recorded the duet, Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde have remained good friends, and fans will be hoping they'll link up again in the near future to deliver another stellar collaboration.

Both artists recently unveiled brand new tours, with Ashley heading out on her The Devil I Know tour in October, while Carly will be embarking on her Country Music Made Me Do It run of shows a few days earlier.

Ashley McBryde is gearing up to release her brand new album on September 8, with many suspecting Carly Pearce will also be dropping a project around the same time. Carly has been teasing new music for some time now, with her latest single, ‘Country Music Made Me Do It’, due to be released on Friday, August 11.
