On Tuesday, October 27th, The Grand Ole Opry joined forces with Susan G. Komen, the world’s leading breast cancer organisation, at the 18th Annual Opry Goes Pink.
Dressed in pink for the occasion, Megan Moroney flipped the switch to turn the Opry’s signature barn backdrop pink for the night. Giving the audience a classic Moroney performance, she sang ‘Cloud 9’, ‘Medicine’, ‘Hair Salon’, ‘Wedding Dress’, ‘Break It Right Back’ and ‘6 Months Later’.
To mark the special event, Moroney invited friend and fellow singer-songwriter, Mackenzie Carpenter, to sing their duet, ‘Nothin’ Crazy,’ from Moroney’s first album, Lucky.
Other performers for the night included Opry member Mandy Barnett, Mackenzie Carpenter, Deana Carter, Briley King, Benny G and rising newcomer, actress and breast cancer survivor Jillian Cardarelli, who made her Opry debut.
Moroney also shared a special moment with country music legend Deana Carter. “I think what I’m most excited for is that I get to introduce Deana Carter tonight,” Moroney said. “For those of you that don’t know, Strawberry Wine was the first song I ever learned how to play on guitar, so it’s a full circle moment for me and just such a special night here and everything’s pink, so, it’s a win.”
Carter opened her set with 'We Danced Anyway' followed by 'Strawberry Wine', making it truly a full circle moment for Moroney.
The Opry Goes Pink donates $5 from every ticket sold to Susan G. Komen to aid in the fight against breast cancer.
