Zach Top, one of country music's premier neo-traditionalists, stopped by during CMA Fest 2024 to record his Holler Nashville Session, presented by George Dickel whiskey.

As part of his three-song set recorded at Horton Events in Nashville, TN, the Washington prodigy delivered an enchanting, stripped-back rendition of his viral hit, ’I Never Lie’, which has been spreading like wildfire across TikTok since its release on his 2024 album, Cold Beer & Country Music.

Zach Top's Holler Nashville Session presented by George Dickel captured the perennial twinkle the up-and-coming artist has in his eye, with Zach crooning playfully alongside his trusty acoustic guitar about all the ways in which he doesn't miss his ex - a thinly veiled facade that barely shrouds the true extent of his heartbreak.

Adorned in his signature cowboy hat and a denim shirt, Zach Top transformed the space into his own personal Texas honky-tonk, with the ‘There's the Sun’ singer-songwriter performing ‘I Never Lie’, ‘Sounds Like The Radio’ and ‘Dirt Turns To Gold’.

Each offering on the setlist for Zach Top's stellar session showcased a different dimension to both his songwriting and his live delivery, with ‘I Never Lie’ highlighting Zach's warm, self-effacing charm, while ’Sounds Like The Radio’ demonstrated his ability to lead a full-blown boot-scootin’-boogie on a rowdy Friday night.

The uptempo track, which is Zach Top's current single at Country Radio, finds him toasting the various ways in which he's inherently dialled in to classic country, with Zach kicking off a string of hilarious, light-hearted punchlines in the first line, “Well, the day I was born the doc couldn't believe / I came out cryin' Chattahoochee”.

When performed acoustically, ‘Sounds Like The Radio’ takes on a new sheen of intricacy, something that can also be said of ‘Dirt Turns To Gold’, a beautifully composed reflection on the benefits of trusting the process and pursuing a patient life in the sticks.

Zach Top's Holler Nashville Session, presented by George Dickel, is the first in a new series, with a slew of other top-tier artists set to deliver acoustic sets in the coming weeks.
