Zach Bryan's viral single, ‘Something in the Orange’, has taken the top spot on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart.
Since its release back in April 2022, the wistful, slow-burning ballad has become one of the most recognisable songs in Zach Bryan's rapidly expanding catalogue.
At the start of the year, ‘Something in the Orange’ shot to No. 1 on Billboard's coveted Hot Country Songs chart, usurping Morgan Wallen's mammoth, record-breaking hit, ‘You Proof’.
Now, ‘Something in the Orange’ has become the leader of the pack in Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.
The Oklahoma native's latest triumph is a testament to how his sparse, stripped-back songwriting style continues to elude strict genre categorisation.
The anthem finds Bryan desperately clinging to the idea that his love may soon return. But as the sun falls into the horizon, his heart sinks with it as he realises their relationship is beyond repair.
Many are tipping ‘Something in the Orange’ to earn Zach Bryan yet another accolade this Sunday, with the single nominated for the 2023 Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance.
To do so, however, Bryan will have to overcome some tough competition, with Kelsea Ballerini, Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris all vying for the same prize.
