Zach Bryan's attention may well have turned to his eagerly anticipated American Heartbreak follow-up, but it's safe to say his loyal fan-base are still enjoying his acclaimed 2022 body of work.
The Oklahoma native's viral single, ‘Something in the Orange’, has now tied Carrie Underwood's iconic hit, ‘Before He Cheats’, as the longest-charting song on the Hot 100 this century, with 64 weeks apiece.
With Zach's heartbroken, foreboding ballad currently sitting at No. 21, it is almost certainly on-track to exceed Carrie's ground-breaking chart-run next week, with ‘Something in the Orange’ expected to remain on the all-genre chart for a number of frames yet.
‘Something in the Orange’ was released by the prolific singer-songwriter in April 2022, ahead of his sprawling, 34-track opus, American Heartbreak. After it went viral on TikTok, Zach included a remix of the song on the album, entitled ‘Something in the Orange (Z&E's Version)’.
When Zach Bryan releases his upcoming album, which is expected to be called ‘Writers and Fighters’ and is currently lined up for an August release date, it'll no doubt instigate a resurgence in streams for all his previous records, including American Heartbreak.
Therefore, if the country-folk hitmaker decides to drop the new project before ‘Something in the Orange’ falls off the Hot 100, then the single will most likely begin to ascend the chart once again. As a result, it looks like Zach's dusk-inspired ballad has many more weeks left before the sun sets on its residence on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100.
