Zach Bryan has gifted us another couple of unreleased song snippets, ‘Skin’ and ‘River Road Drive’, with both tracks expected to feature on the ‘Revival’ crooner's forthcoming EP.
The Oklahoma singer-songwriter confirmed earlier in the week that the highly anticipated project, With Heaven On Top, would be arriving on streaming platforms “sooner than not”.
One of the newly shared offerings, ‘Skin’, finds Zach Bryan at his nostalgic, wistful best, with Bryan crooning forlornly as he attempts to cut ties with an old flame (“I'm taking a blade to my old tattoos / And I'm draining the blood between me and you”).
The second snippet, ‘River Road Drive’, features a more uptempo, bluegrass-tinged instrumental, with Zach Bryan delivering an undulating, snaking melody on his trusty acoustic guitar as he paints a pastoral image of a man travelling along a lonely highway.
We imagine - and hope - that both ‘Skin’ and ’River Road Drive’ are set to appear on With Heaven On Top, alongside the previously teased demos, ‘Always Willin’ and ‘Santa Fe’.
However, details about With Heaven On Top are being kept under wraps for the time being, and the only song we know for certain will feature is the title-track, featuring New York singer-songwriter, Grumpy. Grumpy also provides ethereal harmonising vocals on Bryan's two November singles, ‘This World's A Giant’ and ‘High Road’.
With Heaven On Top is being lined up as a precursor to the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper's keenly awaited The Great American Bar Scene follow-up album. Zach Bryan has been teasing the project throughout 2025, with Bryan sharing a snippet of what appears to be a Matthew McConaughey-voiced introduction to a new documentary, Motorbreath, about the creation of his next body of work.
