Zach Bryan has once again linked up with his 2023 tour-mate, J.R. Carroll, for a stellar cover of Jason Isbell's ‘King of Oklahoma’.

The track appeared on Isbell and his 400 Unit band's latest album, Weathervanes, and has already become a fan-favourite due to its heart-rending storytelling and its evocative lyricism.

Ever since Weathervanes was released in June 2023, Zach has repeatedly professed his love for the record across his socials, and fans have been hoping it wouldn't be long before he'd share another Jason Isbell cover. In 2018, Zach shared a stellar rendition of his fellow Oklahoma native's celebrated 2007 track, ‘Dress Blues’.

This newly shared Jason Isbell cover is bolstered by the inclusion of Zach Bryan's former band-mate, J.R. Carroll, with the two artists’ chemistry radiating throughout the acoustic performance.

It's not the first time Zach and J.R. Carroll have joined forces for a cover, with the two Oklahoma singer-songwriters having previously shared a much-loved rendition of Tyler Childers’ ‘Feathered Indians’.

Zach Bryan undoubtedly has a penchant for covers, with the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker including his take on the classic track, ‘You Are My Sunshine’, on 2022's American Heartbreak, as well as delivering a now-iconic rendition of John Denver's ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ on his recent live album, All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster (Live From Red Rocks).

Nonetheless, we're not expecting Zach to include any covers on his upcoming album, Writers and Fighters, which is due to be released at some point in August.

Given the wealth of unreleased demos and snippets he's been teasing across his socials, it seems Zach Bryan has plenty of material to choose from when it comes to compiling his tracklist.
