Well, it looks like it might finally be happening, folks.
After delivering a thrilling tribute to 90's country legend, Joe Diffie, alongside HARDY and Morgan Wallen at the 2023 CMA Awards, Post Malone left fans clamouring for him to release his long-awaited, almost mythologised country album.
As soon as Posty left the stage, Access Hollywood's Emily Orozco managed to snag some time with the chart-topping, genre-blurring maverick and get his thoughts on how the performance went, as well as asking if a country project might be in the works.
Post Malone was his humble, endearing self, with the New York native joking about his nerves in the lead-up to the blockbuster collaborative performance, “So much fun. I’m not nervous at all...That’s a lie! I had so much fun. It was an amazing experience”.
When asked whether his appearance at the 2023 CMA Awards could signify an impending country album, Post Malone excitingly left no doubts as to where he stands, “I think so. Yes, ma'am!”
While in Nashville preparing for the ceremony, Posty was snapped in a studio with Morgan Wallen and Ernest, before being photographed shortly after during a recording session with Luke Combs and James McNair. Shortly after, Post Malone seemingly teamed up with his long-time buddy, Brad Paisley, leaving fans wondering whether he's already started cutting tracks for the highly anticipated project.
Earlier in the year, Post Malone revealed to Joe Rogan that he's tried to collaborate in the past with outlaw country artist, Colter Wall, but that this fell through due to logistical issues. Another country trailblazer, Jelly Roll, has previously underlined his admiration for Posty, and with the two linking up for a post-CMA Awards photo, we're sure hoping they had time to discuss a potential collaboration.
Posty has a long-standing love of the genre, as was evident during his swaggering, charismatic rendition of Joe Diffie's ‘Pick-Up Man’ alongside HARDY and Morgan Wallen.
Post Malone and Joe Diffie's version of the track was released immediately after the performance, with ‘Pick-Up Man’ and HARDY and Morgan Wallen's revamped rendition of Diffie's ‘John Deere Green’ all set to feature on the upcoming HIXTAPE Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE.
With Posty's take on ‘Pick-Up Man’ being sent to Country Radio, it might not be long before the ‘Congratulations’ songsmith has his first ever No. 1 in the genre.
By that point, we're hoping he'll have officially announced a full-length album, because if the singer-songwriter's 2023 CMA Awards performance was anything to go by, we need more from Country Posty - and we need it as soon as possible.
